Common Issues Teenagers Deal With

As a teenager, you’re going through big changes physically, socially and cognitively. During this phase of your life, it’s common to feel emotional highs and lows as you discover and establish who you really are. At Sound Mind Therapy, we believe counseling is a form of education which empowers you to see life’s challenges from a different perspective.

Self Esteem and Body Image Struggles

Adolescence brings hormonal changes that impact your physical development as well as your emotions. It’s very common for teenagers to compare themselves to one another, as well as to social media “standards” of beauty. Sometimes these comparisons might leave you feeling insecure. While these feelings are normal, if you are struggling, consider leaning on your family, friends or even a counselor for support.

Bullying

Bullying is a serious problem that affects many teens. At Sound Mind therapy a therapist may help provide a view on the way bullies may take the form of cruel text messages, emails or social networking posts.

If you are the victim of bullying, you may feel anxiety about going to school or even just going out. This is why it’s important to report any act of bullying to your family, school or counselor.

Peer Pressure

It is common for teenagers to search for their identity and can sometimes feel pressured by what their family and friends think are acceptable roles. Peer pressure is something almost every teenager will face at some point.

At Sound Mind Therapy, we offer teen and individual counseling that can help sort out these concerns. We create a confidential, non-judgmental environment, where your thoughts and feelings can be explored . At Sound Mind Therapy we come from the heart in helping you focus on a healthy personal path as you define your ultimate purpose and goal.
