Malena Valdeabella, LCSW
Malena has an uncanny ability to connect with individuals and helps them identify and solve problems no matter what their circumstances. She has passion and empathy for people and her willingness to help others have been core values since childhood. Malena’s ultimate goal is to help people find purpose in their pain while assisting them in dissolving their pain in order to move towards peace and healing.
After dealing with her own personal loss, Malena became even more passionate about wanting to find ways to help others heal from their own grief. Malena became a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist® in February 2013. She looks forward to sharing this method, empowering those dealing with grief and loss to make space in their life for more happiness and richer relationships.
Malena combines her education, training and experience to encourage people to utilize their strengths as a means to overcome the issues challenging their lives. She has worked with all ages ranging from children to the elderly, and has a vast array of experience with issues including grief and loss, abuse, addiction, depression and anxiety to name a few. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and received her Bachelor’s in Social Work (2001) and Master’s in Social Work (2004) from Saint Louis University. She has worked in an adolescent court-ordered program, residential treatment, foster care case management, residential school therapy and an outpatient hospital setting providing case management services, crisis de-escalation, individual, family and group therapy. Malena has training in CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, family therapy, crisis intervention and de-escalation, and Grief Recovery. She has been a member of the National Association of Social Workers since 2003.
